1942 We layed Around all Day cleaned car in afternoon Are going into Santa Maria tomorrow.

1943 I came home & went Back at 3 Oclock & Mable Brought Me home at 9. Marie is getting poison oak Dr. gave her shot.

1944 Dad slept Till 3 we went into Town got groceries & Butain Took Marie Home.

1943 entry: Marie got poison oak because she fell down a hillside at the falls during the picnic outing, rolling through poison oak on her way down. The poison oak was bad enough, but she also had it under her cast. She couldn’t put ointment on it and could only scratch it using a knitting needle. I got this information directly from her.
