1943 entry: Marie got poison oak because she fell down a hillside at the falls during the picnic outing, rolling through poison oak on her way down. The poison oak was bad enough, but she also had it under her cast. She couldn’t put ointment on it and could only scratch it using a knitting needle. I got this information directly from her.

1943 entry: This entry causes me to wonder if Marie is boarding at the home of Mrs. Brass while she can’t stay with Grama and Grampa because they have work out of town or they have no room for her.

1943 entry: Sisters Hospital is the nickname of Our Lady of Perpetual Help located in Santa Maria, California. It was the only hospital in Santa Maria at that time, that I know of.
